Title: My experience in the ABC Top 5 Science Media Residency
Abstract: The ABC's Top 5 Media Residency program is designed to hone the communications skills and media awareness of early-career researchers, with the overall aim of helping them to share their knowledge and expertise with audiences wanting credible material and informed debate. I will talk about my experience in the program, which included producing online articles and radio reports, training from the Australian National Centre for Public Awareness of Science at ANU and Science in Public, and pitching to The Conversation. The ABC Top 5 Media Residency is a fantastic program for any early-career researcher who is keen to build their science communication skills and profile.
Bio: Dr David Gozzard is a Forrest Fellow in the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research at the University of Western Australia where he works on ground-to-space laser links for high-precision metrology and high-bandwidth laser communications.
