Dr Marcelo Pereira de Almeida

Marcelo is a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Queensland. He works at the Quantum Technology Lab with Professor Andrew White.

His research focuses on harnessing single-photon emission from artificially engineered atomic systems based in semiconductor quantum dots. He is currently working on the prototype of a source of multiple-photons for application in optical quantum computing and quantum metrology.

Marcelo hopes to develop a source of multiple spatially independent and indistinguishable single-photons. This technology will have applications on realisation of complex quantum computing algorithms (e.g. Boson Sampling) as well as quantum metrology with multiple single-photon states.
