Successful Day at the StemXX Sisters Community Meet and Greet

Successful Day at the StemXX Sisters Community Meet and Greet

On 10th August, EQUS PhD student Elrina Hartman visited Bunbury Catholic College as part of the EQUS sponsored event "STEMXX Sisters" community meet and greet, to speak to year 5-8 students about photons and quantum science.

The event brought together aspiring STEM students with inspiring female scientists and industry professionals, fostering connections and encouraging the next generation of STEM leaders.

Following the success of its inaugural event in 2023, the Science Teachers Association of WA (STAWA) organised this year’s STEMXX Sisters event to provide young women in the Southwest of WA with exciting opportunities to explore the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

One of the highlights of the day was the participation of Quantum Dark Matter Lab, which teamed up with Quantum Girls to dive deep into the fascinating world of photons. Students had the opportunity to learn about the various ways photons are used in scientific experiments, with a special focus on lasers (check out the pictures below to see them in action!).
