Callum Sambridge Wins John Carver Physics Prize

EQUS PhD Student and Student Representative, Callum Sambridge, has been awarded the prestigious John Carver Physics Prize for his exceptional presentation at the annual John Carver Seminar Series. This event is held by the Research School of Physics at ANU, where students present 15-minute talks about their research to fellow students and colleagues.

In addition to winning the John Carver Prize, Callum was also a joint recipient of the People’s Choice Award. His talk on phase tracking of ultra-low power light beams included a groundbreaking demonstration conducted at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) on a flight spare laser.

The John Carver Seminar Series highlights the excellent research conducted by ANU students, with prizes awarded for the best presentations, including the Dean’s Prize and Director’s Prize. The winner of the John Carver Prize is invited to present at the NSW branch of the Australian Institute of Physics' Postgraduate Awards event.
