Nicholas was a PhD student at the University of Sydney supervised by Prof Stephen Bartlett and Dr Robin Harper. His research was in the field of fault-tolerance in quantum computers, specifically aimed at dealing with the implementation of non-Clifford gates in the near term. His Honours thesis was titled ‘Thinking about magic: universal quantum computing in the NISQ regime’.
