Virginia Frey

Virginia is a third-year PhD candidate supervised by CI Michael Biercuk in the Quantum Control Laboratory at the University of Sydney. Her research focuses on experimental quantum control where she is devising and testing control protocols that enable error characterisation and suppression in quantum systems. When Virginia is not hunting down bugs in the lab she writes software and engages in theory discussions with collaborators. Her appreciation for the incredible impact of proper control for experiments and the skills she developed during her candidature led her to take on a part-time position at CI Biercuk's startup Q-Ctrl, where she is developing rigorous software tools for quantum control.
