Lucas was working on single-shot topological quantum error correction and lattice surgery under the supervision of Dr Dominic Williamson, Prof Stephen Bartlett and Prof Tom Stace in the Sydney Quantum Theory Group. He commenced his PhD, ‘Topological quantum codes go hyperbolic’, in 2024, after completing his Masters titled ‘Universal scaling of hypergraph product codes’.
