Lawrence is an expert in synthetic biology. He and his research team at, the University of New South Wales, build molecular machines based on models from nature, such as the bacterial agellar motor; a rotary engine that can rotate five times faster than an F1 engine. Lawrenbce brought deep expertise in synthetic biology to the Centre and provided deep insights and expert advice on open questions in biology.
