Jacob is a former Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) student majoring in electrical engineering and physics at The University of Western Australia. His Honours thesis was entitled: ‘Understanding newly discovered properties of isotopically enriched silicon at low mK temperatures’. The project involved reproducing and understanding a previously seen freeze-out of a loss mechanism in silicon at low mK temperatures. The aim was to use low loss silicon in a solid state clock and quantum devices.
