Matt is a postgraduate student at Macquarie University currently undertaking a PhD with Dr Thomas Volz.

His research focus is to extensively characterise the influence of the local environment on the optical and spin properties of nano diamond colour centres, in particular as a function of size into the ultra-small regime. And, to investigate collective effects of Nano diamond colour centres akin to observations in related nanoscale systems.

Matt hopes to create quantum-engineered nano diamond sensors for applications in biology and materials research.
