The Translational Research Laboratory (TRL) is a flagship program in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems (EQUS). TRL's role is to facilitate the translation of EQUS research into technologies which will positively impact Australian society.
As TRL Program Manager I am responsible for all 5 EQUS nodes - the University of Queensland, University of Sydney, Macquarie University, the Australian National University, and the University of Western Australia.
My primary role is to help researchers identify technologies which solve existing problems or deliver new benefits and then help bring those technologies to a state where they are ready to be commercialised. TRL does not directly commercialise these research outputs, but we do work closely with the researchers and the local commercialisation pathways to facilitate making EQUS technologies investible.
My other roles at TRL are managing our Facilitation Projects fund, providing commercialisation workshops and mentoring to EQUS staff, and building connections to industry, government, and investors in Australia and globally.
