Matthew van Breugel

Matt was a postgraduate student at Macquarie University undertaking a PhD with Dr Thomas Volz.

His research focused on extensively characterising the influence of the local environment on the optical and spin properties of nanodiamond colour centres, in particular as a function of size into the ultra-small regime. And, to investigate collective effects of Nanodiamond colour centres akin to observations in related nanoscale systems.

Matt hopes to create quantum-engineered nano diamond sensors for applications in biology and materials research.
