Hakop is a former postgraduate student at the University of Sydney under the supervision of Professor Stephen Bartlett.

His research focussed on quantum computation and quantum information, simulating quantum systems and the foundations of quantum mechanics.

Hakop sought to identify new techniques for simulating quantum systems and attain new insights into why quantum mechanics is computationally more powerful than classical mechanics.
