Harrison is currently working at Q-Ctrl at the University of Sydney with Chief Investigator Michael Biercuk.
During his PhD, Harrison's research focused on using Beryllium ions in a Penning trap provide a promising architecture for quantum simulation of many-body problems belonging to an otherwise intractable class. This involved a wide variety of infrastructure-development projects. These included the design, construction and testing of a Penning trap; development of high-power 313 nm laser system for state preparation, cooling and entanglement and logic operations; development of imaging system, supporting fiber optics capabilities and supporting hardware for feedback and experimental control.
The Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems (EQUS) acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and to Elders past and present.
