In 2024, EQUS marked its final full year of operations with continued impact across science, translation, and community. As the quantum sector gains momentum both globally and in Australia, EQUS has remained at the forefront—translating cutting-edge research into real-world technologies, training the next generation of quantum leaders, and helping shape national policy conversations.
Quantum technologies are already influencing our everyday lives—from smartphones to imaging systems—but their full potential is just beginning to unfold. EQUS has played a pivotal role in preparing Australia for this future. Through deep engagement with industry and government, EQUS has not only advanced quantum science but has built bridges toward practical applications that promise to transform healthcare, finance, communications, and more.
This report captures our 2024 achievements and the Centre’s strategic plans for its final phase in early 2025. It highlights EQUS’ contributions across research, translation, equity and inclusion, career development, and national capability. As we move toward conclusion, EQUS continues to demonstrate what is possible when long-term investment is matched with ambition, collaboration, and trust in people.
