Hamish completed his PhD in December 2024. His thesis, titled ‘Low-frequency magnetic field sensing using cavity optomechanical magnetometers’, focused on the development of ultrasensitive magnetometers for use at room temperature and on the scale of approximately 100 microns. His research explored applications in magnetoencephalography (MEG) and magnetic anomaly detection.
