Carolyn was a Deborah Jin Research Fellow at the University of Queensland, where she worked with Associate Professor Sally Shrapnel on topics in quantum machine learning. In addition to this, Carolyn’s research also focused on physics at the interface between quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, and general relativity, and developing new theoretical tools for describing this regime. Through all these topics she wants to advance understanding of the new arising effects on quantum information processing and quantum technologies. She is also broadly interested in quantum foundations, artificial intelligence, and cross-disciplinary research combining physics and linguistics. Carolyn completed her PhD and Bachelor of Science at the University of Queensland, and also holds a Bachelor’s degree in applied linguistics from Griffith University.
