Andrew was a postgraduate student at Macquarie University undertaking a PhD with Dr Thomas Volz. His research focus targeted mechanically tuneable fibre micro cavities which offer a versatile system for studying cavity QED. With such a system, he investigated micro cavity polarities as well as NV and SiV defect centres in Nano diamond to expand our knowledge about these sources and realise new ideas for possible applications in new quantum technologies. Andrew hoped by using the new phenomenon he discovered and studied, will actively pursue new concepts to develop useful and novel technologies.
