Congratulations to EQUS Chief Investigator Arkady Fedorov and Associate Investigator Peter Jacobson on their successful 2021 ARC Linkage Project.
Arkady and Peter are investigators on a project to identify strategies to reduce decoherence in quantum computing components, using an approach that combines quantum physics, materials science and engineering. They will investigate the effect of atomically sharp interfaces on decoherence, and use capping layers to control and/or inhibit oxide growth to reduce the contribution of interfaces to decoherence. They hope the project will result in the development of new fabrication methods for long-lived superconducting qubits for superconducting quantum technologies.
This project is in partnership with Finnish quantum computing start-up IQM.
The Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems (EQUS) acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and to Elders past and present.
