EQUS Associate Investigator Lachlan Rogers presented at Physics in the Pub in Sydney on Tuesday 27 August, thanks to sponsorship from EQUS’ Public Engagement Portfolio.
The AIP and organisers were delighted to have EQUS sponsorship for the event, and the venue was packed to (or beyond) capacity. I shared a few comments about EQUS as a sponsor, pitched “quantum engineering” and got some surprised faces from the audience, and then gave my presentation on the Sounds of Quantum.
My talk featured answers given by EQUS colleagues on the Clear as Quantum podcast, showcasing a wide variety of sounds that people associate with “quantum”. It turns out that musical intervals and chords are quite a good auditory way to experience quantum superposition states!
There were 6 presenters in total, and it was good to have EQUS prominently visible on stage (speaker and banner).
The Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems (EQUS) acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia and their continuing connection to lands, waters and communities. We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and to Elders past and present.
