Dr Carla Verdi is using AI to better understand the properties of material needed for quantum mechanics and Tim Hirsch talks nanotechnology and sound waves.
Carla Verdi (University of Queensland)
To understand the properties of materials we need quantum mechanics, but solving Schrödinger's equation for many interacting quantum objects seems impossible! We will discover how this challenge can be overcome, and use some help from AI too.
Tim Hirsch (University of Queensland)
I’ll explain how we’re making energy efficient, radiation tolerant computers by throwing out the paradigm of electronic circuitry, and instead using mechanical motion to do the logic. Learn about nanotechnology, the power of nonlinear physics, and how sound waves are capable of more than you think.
