Akhter is a postgraduate student at the University of Western Australia currently undertaking a PhD with Professor Michael Tobar.

His research aims to create a system to govern quantum mechanical read-out to macroscopic state.

He hopes to contribute to the Frequency and Quantum Metrology Research Group which is to build instruments with world-class precision and performance.
