So much about music stems from science, be it composition, sound creation, sound manipulation or listening.

With the help of an electric guitar, David Reilly, Professor of Quantum Physics at the University of Sydney, will demonstrate some of the connections between musical concepts and our most successful theory of reality, including the processing of quantum information that may form the basis of powerful future computers.

This Sounds Like Science is co-curated with Inspiring Australia, the national strategy for community engagement with the sciences. In this free lunchtime series, leading Australian researchers present the science behind music, paired with demonstrations and performances by local musicians.
